BABA RAHMAN embarks on a sixth loan away from Chelsea while Reading signs the Blues’ disgraced player.
The Ghana national team player, whose step was welcomed by Royal Family Officer Veljko Paunovic, last played for the Stamford Giants in 2016.
The 27-year-old left-back, who captured the Blues’ transition from German club Ausburg in 2015, played only 23 games in the Chelsea vest.
In previous loan periods he has played for Schalke (twice), Reims Stade, Mallorca and for the Greek side POAK Thessaloniki on the last term.
Reading, who would later face Huddersfield, was on the hunt for the left-back after the departure of Omar Richards.
The former royal ace made a stellar move to German Bayern Munich as a free agent in May this year.
And the club was closely tied to the relocation of former Nottingham Forest defender Yuri Ribeiro before making a deal with Rahman.
Royals manager Paunovich said: “It’s no secret that recruiting an experienced left-back was a priority for us this summer.

“I am delighted that we were able to strike this deal to bring Baba to Reading.
“He is a fast, strong, physical footballer who has a lot to offer the club and the players around him.
“Baba really wanted to be a part of our project and put himself to the test in this tough division, and I’m glad to see him play for us.
Rahman, whose last blue jersey game was a 1-1 draw in May 2016 against Leicester, has a contract until 2024.
In the 2015/16 season, the defender played for Chelsea under the leadership of former bosses Guus Hiddink and Jose Mourinho, but gave way to the starting line.
Prior to moving to Reading, the player was one of the 15 Blues stars who returned to Chelsea from a loan at the end of last season.
