Buying a home in the Netherlands with an online mortgage: pros and cons




Buying a home in the Netherlands is easier than you think, especially now that most of the process can be done online. And while applying for a mortgage used to mean endless meetings, filling out forms and lengthy email conversations, now you can completely solve it from the comfort of your own home.

“It was the coronavirus pandemic and the need to move so much of our work online that led to the idea,” says Chil Verstige of, the first fully online mortgage broker in the Netherlands.

“People who want to know how to buy a house in the Netherlands are used to looking for information about this process on the Internet, so we thought, why not make the entire mortgage application process digital?”

The result, which took a year to develop, is a streamlined service that covers the entire process from start to finish, which Chill says can be performed by customers for the first time at their own time and place.

But is it really that simple? What are the pros and cons of using an online mortgage broker to buy a home in Amsterdam, Eindhoven or The Hague?


For starters, using an online mortgage broker, for example is best for you if you are buying for the first time on a permanent job, with a permanent or at least one year contract.
