Joe Biden said that American troops would remain in Afghanistan until all remaining US citizens – and citizens of American allies – are evacuated from the country after criticism for the indiscriminate withdrawal of US troops.

In a defensive interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC News on Wednesday, Biden said that it was impossible to avoid “chaos” by leaving Afghanistan and that he intends to evacuate Americans and US allies before the August 31 deadline, but what if some US citizens are still in the country , his troops “will stay until we get them all out.”

A Pentagon briefing on Thursday revealed that another 2,000 people have been evacuated in the past 24 hours, but the real problem is the bottlenecks in getting people to the airport, not the capacity of the planes.

The Taliban are known to own 2,000 US-made armored personnel carriers that were abandoned or captured by the Afghan army.

On the domestic front, new jobless claims fell to pandemic lows, and the Biden administration announced that it has paid off $ 5.8 billion in student debt from Americans with disabilities.
