Ainsley Maitland-Niles Everton, loan
Ainsley Maitland-Niles He still seems determined to pursue a career as a midfielder, although he could have solidified his position at Arsenal if he simply accepted the role of right-back. As a result, Mikel Arteta is delighted that the Hale End alumnus who joined Arsenal when he was just six years old left this summer as he used it sparingly during his time as Arsenal manager.
So far this season, the Maitland-Niles have played just 29 minutes against West Brom in the League Cup in a week. This in itself points to his role at Arsenal, given that this is a competition in which AMN was almost always guaranteed to start.
Everton reportedly interested in leasing Maitland-Niles for the season with clubs that are said to have a good relationship following deals with Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi, although I’m not sure how much Everton fans would agree with that.
For Arsenal, these deals have certainly been good business. They sold the pair for £ 47.6 million and Everton scored 11 goals and nine assists from Walcott and five goals and five assists from Iwobi.
Arsenal wants around £ 20m for Maitland Niles but Everton would have preferred a loan, no doubt wary of spending another pile of money on an Arsenal player, although at AMN they would have gotten a player worth much more than Walcott or Iwobi.
Maitland-Niles has two years left before his current contract with Arsenal, and he price about £ 14.4 million.
