The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced this week that it is currently accepting applications for the $ 28 Million Drug Addiction Treatment and Recovery Program (STAR LRP), which will provide up to $ 250,000 in the form of funds to pay off education loans for those who work. in the field of drug addiction treatment.
Recipients of the award must be a US citizen, US citizen, or permanent resident; Fully licensed, discipline-specific, or registered SUD specialist; and a staff member at STAR LRP. Recipients must also commit to working full time at a STAR LRP approved facility for a minimum of 6 years.
HRSA has identified 2 levels of funding priority. Individuals are classified as Level I if they work in a STAR LRP approved facility in a county where the drug overdose rate in the past 3 years is higher than the most recent national average. Level II candidates are those who work in an approved facility in an area of shortage of mental health professionals. Applicants are also ranked by debt to income ratio and hiring start date.
