SAN ANTONIO – The Alamo College District will forgive student loan debt for eligible students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release, district officials said it would be forgiveness for balances that were acquired from March 23, 2020 to June 8, 2021.
The balance will be paid in full from federal funds provided to the college district for COVID-19 emergency relief.
Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores said the past year has been difficult for students and he hopes the funding will help students and their families.
“Our entire Alamo College District family has shown great resilience over the past 18 months. With the support of this federal emergency aid, our goal is to remove any obstacles that may deter students from continuing their pursuit of higher education and a brighter future, ”said Flores.
Alamo College District Ended Enrolled 98,000 students among its five colleges.
