5 Social Media Best Practices for Real Estate Agents

Gogo Betke

Since launch in 2011 Gogo Betke, a real estate agent from Michigan in eXp Realty, has sold over 200 homes and completed nearly $ 75 million in sales.

She says none of this would be possible without powerful business social media accounts.

While Gogo is the ultimate social media influencer among Michigan real estate agents, she’s not the only one who realizes how more and more social media is becoming for the real estate industry.

According to Member Profile of the National Association of Realtors® 2021COVID-19 has made realtors more dependent on new technologies. 57% of NAR members say social media is the most frequently used feature of a smartphone. Even though the restrictions have been lifted, realtors continue to use new technologies and social media, with Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram being the most popular apps.

Here are 5 social media best practices for real estate agents:

Create a social media calendar

Gogo recommends creating a social media posting schedule. For example, on Mondays and Tuesdays, real estate agents can advertise a new home. Then, on Wednesdays, they could write about looking for houses. On Thursdays it was possible to write about open days. And on Fridays, they could post messages on how to determine the price of a house.

Post videos of buyers and sellers to Instagram

Gogo encourages real estate agents to post videos of buyers and sellers on Instagram every day to find potential clients. In buyer-focused videos, ask, “Want to know which homes will hit the market two days before they hit the market?” Mark your location and add a box asking “What is your email address?”

For seller videos, ask, “Want to know how much your home is worth? Enter your address below and someone will send you information soon. ” Mark your location and add a question field so people can submit their addresses.

Get reviews on Facebook, Google and Zillow

First, make sure you have created accounts on the following platforms: Facebook Business, Google My Business, and Zillow.

Every time you close a transaction, send an email asking the customer to give you feedback on these platforms.

Reach People Every Day

Join real estate groups on Facebook. Create a list of preferred vendors to recommend and support your friends.

“I expect my friends to use me as a realtor,” Gogo said. “But do I support my friends and their businesses? Do I know who a plumber, electrician, painter, trainee, loader is? “

Add tags and hashtags

By adding quarterly customer gratitude events on social media, tag your location and the companies and people who visit them.

“Tags and hashtags are very important,” Gogo said. “They can help your posts reach target audiences, attract followers in your niche, increase engagement, and create a more positive and recognizable brand image.”
